Group Martin was established by John and Pat Martin of Alexandria, Virginia in 2006. We have been slowly but steadily bringing our vision of making “great wines at affordable prices” available to people with similar wine expectations to ours.

In 2002 we were introduced to Hastwell & Lightfoot’s Cabernet at a party in Singapore. A friend from France had brought and opened the wine saying, “you must drink this, it is very special”. He was right. The color, huge fruity flavor, yet complex and well integrated structure made for a remarkable sensory experience. We were captured by the special qualities and hooked for life. So much so, we made a trip to Australia in search of the vintner.

The idea to import and sell wine into the US took shape when we returned to the US at the end of 2004 after living overseas for several years. Although we were able to get Hastwell & Lightfoot wines in Singapore, we quickly found that we could not get the wines we loved here. And, there seemed to be precious few wines in short and infrequent supply that came anywhere near in style, flavor and price. To launch our combination of “great wines at affordable prices”, we have established a supply agreement with Hastwell & Lightfoot.
